James E. “Jim” Chappell, III, age 82, of Harrodsburg, husband of Jennifer L. Chappell, died Friday, September 27, 2024 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center of Danville, KY. Jim was born July 11, 1942 in Norfolk, VA. He is the son of the late James Edgar and Mae Belle (Wilson) Chappell II. Jim was a very involved individual, he was a Car salesman at Lewis Chevrolet West Virginia, Virginia Association of Lions Club for outstanding musical ability,President of the Beckley Board Of Realtors in Beckley, West Virginia, graduate of Old Dominion College in Norfolk, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration , Completion of International Music League Instructor course for accordion, Member of the MusiCenter School of Music Accordion Band , Lexington Model Airplane Association , Realtor at Lilly Land Co. Beckley, West Virginia, Retired from running his own Franchise at Snap- On tools, Member of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity of Old Dominion College, Member of the Jaycees Club West Virginia, Avid antique car and motorcycle collector with a special interest in Corvettes and Mercedes Benz, Was able to put himself through college by teaching accordion lessons, Self taught clock repair man. Jim is survived by his wife: Jennifer L. Chappell, one daughter: Brie Metzger (Ben Minks) of Lexington, KY and two stepsons: Chris Givens and Patrick Neal; a brother: Danny Chappell of Roanoke, VA; He also has six grandchildren, Eric (Brittney) Hughes, Jacob Metzger, Bailey Neal, Rebecca Metzger, Trinity Minks and Jackson Minks; three Great Grand Children, Annlee Hughes, Illyana Hughes and Bryson Metzger and a special niece, Ashley Messenger. Jim was preceded in death by his Son, Jacob Chappell. The funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, October 4 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington St., Harrodsburg, KY. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 3 from 5 - 8 PM and prior to the service on Friday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington St., Harrodsburg, KY. Pallbearers will be: Chris Givens, Patrick Neal, Hagen Frye, Eric Hughes, Jacob Metzger and Ben Minks. Memorials are suggested to be made to the American Heart Association P.O.
