Obituary of Shane Casey

Elliott “Shane” Casey, age 36, husband of Ellen (Van Gilder) Casey, died Thursday, October 17, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born May 6, 1988 in Saint Petersburg, FL and raised in Naples and Harrodsburg, he was the son of Don and Lynette Casey. Shane was a member of The Pioneer Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and Youth Leader. Shane worked as a network engineer. He loved to spend time with his family more than anything. His favorite things to do were to use his engineering skills to build things with his kids, go to the lake with family and take his Escalade off roading and exploring in creeks. He is survived by his wife: Ellen (Van Gilder) Casey, two daughters: Alexis Melise Smith and Larkyn Shane Casey; one son: Maverick Elliott Casey; his parents: Don & Lynette Casey; two brothers: Cody Casey and Jesse Casey of Harrodsburg; one niece: Tabor Ray Casey; one nephew; Alexander James Van Gilder; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by niece: Fallon Grey Casey Pallbearers: Don Casey, Cody Casey, Jesse Casey, Mike Van Gilder, Michael Van Gilder, David Freeman, Jonathan Blackburn and Justin Speake. John Harder, Seth Mayes and Robbie Asher are to serve as Honorary Bearers. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Monday 10/21, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Steven Dresen officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will be Sunday, 10/20 from 4-7 pm, at Ransdell Funeral Chapel Memorial donations are asked to be sent to Heritage Hospice, 120 Enterprise Dr, Danville KY 40422 or to the Casey Family Benefit, Venmo @CaseyFamilyFund, or checks payable to Ellen Casey can be left at the funeral home.
