Howard M Fallis Obituary

Howard Mitchell Fallis, Jr, age 76, husband of Charlotte Overstreet Fallis, of Harrodsburg died Tuesday, October 29,, 2024 at UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Born December 7, 1947 in Harrodsburg, KY, to the late Howard Mitchell “Sonny" and Anna Belle Sims Fallis, Sr.


Howard was an Elder of Salvisa Christian Church, active Deputy Chief and Treasurer of Mercer County Fire Protection District. He retired as a Chief from Salvisa Fire Station No. 4, of which he was a Charter Member. He was a retired Biology and Chemistry teacher for Mercer County High School, where he taught for 28 years. Following retirement, Howard taught an additional 10 years at the Harrodsburg Vocational School. His lifelong passion was farming.


A man of many traits, Howard was involved in many areas of his community. He was a member of the Daviess Masons and the St. John’s Masonic Lodge No. 125, where he served as Master for 18 years and was elected secretary emeritus in 2021. He was also a Charter Member of the Salvisa Ruritan Club, was a past Scout Master of Troop 127 – Salvisa and was an assistant Football coach as well as a Track & Field Coach for Mercer County High School.


Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Overstreet Fallis; two daughters, Wendy Jill (Mark) Fallis Runnion of Franklin, TN and Mitzi (Kevin) Fallis Lutes of Georgetown, KY; one son, Kirk (Karen) Davis Fallis of Lexington, KY; one sister, Geraldine Sims Fallis Green of Salvisa, KY; seven grandchildren; Brittney Anna (Joseph) Runnion Occhipinti, Mitchell Edward Runnion, Elijah Kirk Fallis, Anna Belle Charlotte Lutes, Katherine Elizabeth Fallis, Savannah Geraldine Lutes and Daniel Mark Fallis; two great grandchildren, John Thomas Occhipinti and Charlotte Anne Occhipinti; several nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington St., Harrodsburg, KY with Rev. Jeff Bell officiating. A Fireman’s burial with “Last Call” will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg KY, with Brenda Alexander leading in prayer.


Visitation will be 3 – 8 PM, Thursday October 31, 2024, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. A Masonic Service will begin at 7:30 PM.


Pallbearers are: Mark Green, Kevin Green, Sean Green, Mitchell Runnion, Joesph Occhipinti, Marcus Peachey, Aaron Peachey and Tony Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers are: Brothers of St. Johns Lodge-125 and the Mercer County Fire Protection District.


Memorials have been suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Heritage Hospice, 120 Enterprise Dr., Danville, KY 40422.
