Carter VanArsdall, M.D. Carter VanArsdall, M.D., age 87, 141 Dedman St, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Haggin Memorial Hospital, Harrodsburg, KY. Born August 19, 1917 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late Condit Brewer and Sarah Elizabeth (Carter) VanArsdall Sr. and was married to Marcille (Cille) Bailey VanArsdall, Harrodsburg. Dr. VanArsdall attended Kentucky Weslyan in Winchester for 3 years and received his B.S. degree from the University of Michigan. He received his Medical Degree from Duke University and completed his residency training at City Hospital, Indianapolis, IN, where he met his wife, Cille. Dr. VanArsdall joined the medical practice of his father and brother in 1947 and retired from there in 1975. He then served on the V.A. Hospital staff until 1984, having served a brief period as Medical Director. Dr. VanArsdall was an Army Captain and served in the Medical Corps. during World War II and the Korean War. He was Past President of the Harrodsburg Rotary Club, a member of the Mercer Medical Association, a consulting physician to the Mercer Board of Health, and was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church. Survivors in addition to his wife include: two daughters; Jeanne VanArsdall of Lexington, KY, and Ann (Wick) Asbury of Lawrenceburg, KY; one son, Tom (Marilee) VanArsdall of Stamping Ground, KY; a Grandson, Tad (Jennifer) Asbury; a Granddaughter, Emily Asbury. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wed., May 11, 2005, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, by David Ross and Jimmy Owens. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are Nick Dedman, MD, Chuck Dedman, L.D. Knight, Don Cole, Harold Davis, and Bacon Moore, MD. Honorary bearers are members of the Mercer Medical Association. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY. Memorial contributions may be sent to Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care, Linden Ave., Harrodsburg, KY 40330 or the Alzheimer's Association, 801 S. Limestone, Suite E, Lexington, KY 40508-4048.
