Obituary of Jorg M. Potts

Jorg Minot Potts, 50, of Calvary Lane, died June 9, 2005 at his home. He was the son of the late Andrew Shouse and Edna Marie France Potts. He was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service since 1984 and was a member of the Mercer Church of Christ. He served as a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army and was a drill instructor at Ft. Knox where he received the Meritorious Service Commendation. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. He served as the public address announcer for Mercer County sports. Survivors include: his wife; Tammy Dennis Potts; two sons, Danny (Bobbie) Potts and Andy Potts, and one daughter; Jeanie (Jason) Sanford, all of Harrodsburg; two brothers, John Gary Potts, Lexington, Thomas S. Potts, Harrodsburg; and one sister; Dona Kendrick, Harrodsburg; and his father and mother-in-law; Tommy and Jean Dennis; three grandchildren; Caitlyn Ciera and Jensen LeAnne Potts and Wyatt Dewayne Sanford; He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Ann Potts, two brothers-in-law; Dewayne Dennis and David Kendrick, who, along with his sister Dona, raised him. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jason Pierce, Mike Justice and Jim Collins officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Saturday. Pallbearers will be David Kendrick, Robert Kendrick, Brian Kendrick, Ken Kendrick, Tommy Dennis, Monty McRay John Warren and Jim Smith. Honorary bearers will be James Thomas, Homer Yates, Jeremy Shope, Ritchie Bottoms, Seth Kendrick, Todd Collier and the men of the Mercer Church of Christ. Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice or the Mercer County baseball team.
