Mable Frances Bottom, age 97, McDowell Place, Danville, KY, widower of Leo Bottom Bottom, died Saturday, August 6, 2005 at residence. Born January 17, 1908 in Boyle Co., KY, she was the daughter of the late James Logan and Martha Ellen (Minor) Kirkland. Mrs. Bottom was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church (Women Mission Society & Sunday School Teacher), the Jane McAfee Chapter of the DAR, KY & Mercer Retired Teachers Association, and the Lexington Rd. Homemakers. She was a lifelong educator having taught in 4 KY counties. She received her undergraduate degree from EKU and graduate degrees from UK and VPI in Blacksburg, VA. Mrs. Bottom also served as the Washington Co. Home Economics Extension Agent for a number of years. Survivors include: 2 nephews, Robert Kirkland of Lexington, KY & William Kirkland of Frankfort, KY; 4 nieces, Clarice Hogan of Bradfordsville, Rowena Overstreet of Greenfield, KY, and Barbara Kingsley & Ann Emery of Hartford, SC; a number of great nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 02:00 PM, Monday, August 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Jimmy Owens. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are: Anthony Evans, Shawn England, David Hogan, Thomas Kirkland, John Kirkland, Jimmy Evans. Visitation will be Sunday, August 7 from 3-7 pm and Monday after 7:30 AM at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to Harrodsburg United Methodist Church or The Methodist Childrens Home.
