Raymond Wade, age 84, 1241 Cornishville Rd., Harrodsburg, died Saturday, August 6, 2005 at V. A. Medical Ctr., Lexington, KY. Born February 25, 1921 in Mercer Co., KY, he was the son of the late Clyde and Vita (Hurst) Wade and husband of Venetta Marksbury Wade, Mercer Co.. Mr. Wade was a Army veteran of World War II. He received 5 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead as a result of the Omaha Beach Landing during the Normandy Invasion. He was a longtime farmer, a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church, where he served as an Elder, a long-term board member and Past President of the Mercer Co. Farm Bureau, Mercer Co. Extension Office, & Southern States Coop. Additionally, Mr. Wade was a past delegate of the Burley Tobacco Coop., a graduate of the Government Agriculture School, a member of the VFW & American Legion, and a KY Colonel. Survivors include: his wife, Venetta (Marksbury) Wade; three sons, Dennis (Mary June) Wade, David (Norma) Wade, Kenny (Cari Perkins) Wade, all of Mercer Co.; 7 grandchildren, Chad, Julie, Timothy, Bruce, and Mark Wade, Amanda Lewis, and Angelia Swabey; 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tues., August 9, 2005 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Don Chase and John David Lane. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are Darion Lewis and his grandchildren: Chad, Julie, Timothy, Bruce, and Mark Wade, Amanda Lewis, and Angelia Swabey. Visitation will be Monday, August 8 after 5:00 PM. and Tuesday after 7:30 AM at Ransdell Funeral Chapel Memorial contributions may be sent to Harrodsburg Christian Church, Mercer Co. Senior Citizens, or Gideon Bible Fund.
