HERBERT O. BURNS Herbert O. Burns, age 97, 457 West Office Street, died Tuesday at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born April 12, 1906 in Mercer Co. he was the son of the late James Harve and Mary Margaret Sanford Burns and widower of the late Lois Huffman Burns. He was a retired bank teller at the Mercer Co. National Bank, a former associate of Glave Sims Funeral Home and Ransdell Funeral Chapel. He was a 75 year member of the Masonic Lodge # 777 F & AM, served as treasurer of the Harrodsburg Baseball League for several years and was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church. Survivors include one daughter June B. France, Harrodsburg; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Williams, Elizabethtown and Peggy France, Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Lela Sheperson and Grace Myers both of Harrodsburg, two great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Matthew Atha and John David Lane; burial will be in the Bohon Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and prior to the service on Friday at the chapel. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:30 PM Thursday. Pallbearers are Bobby Sheperson, Gerald Sheperson, Kenneth F. Burns, Mike Sheperson, Arthur Huffman, Sonny Ransdell and Genie Sims. Honorary bearers are C.D. Ransdell, Jr., Charles Keller, Ervin King, and Delbert Ball. Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund.
