Mattie P. Murray, age 85, 830 N. College St., Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Haggin Memorial Hospital, Harrodsburg, KY. Born May 6, 1920 in Beattyville, KY, she was the daughter of the late George W. Pendergrass Sr. and the late Alma (McDonald) Pendergrass Clinton, and was the widow ofR. L. Murray Sr.. Along with her husband, she had owned and operated the Kentucky Food Store in Beatyville for more than 50 years. Mrs. Murray was a member of the Waco Baptist Church, the Boonesboro Chapter of the D.A.R., the Patti A. Clay Women’s Auxilary, Cavanaugh Homemakers, and was past president of the Richmond Woman’s Club. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Roderic L. (Jennie) Murray, III. of Nashville, TN, and James Paul (Robin) Murray Sr. of Harrodsburg, KY; two brothers, George W. Pendergrass of MO, and Ernest Pendergrass of CA; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and was preceded in death by a brother, James Paul Pendergrass, and a grandson, Jonathan Lee Murray. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, at Riverview Cemetery by Dr. James McCarroll. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Beattyville. Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM, Wednesday, January 11 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Heart Association.
