Calvin Lee Wiley, Jr., age 79, 344 Bonta Dr., Harrodsburg, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at his home.
Born October 15, 1926 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late Calvin L., Sr.and Golda (Dennis) Wiley. He was the widower of Lurleen Morris Wiley. He served during World War II in the U. S. Army. He was former Post Master at Burgin, Stanford & Harrodsburg and was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder for many years and served as chairman of the Church Board for three years. Calvin was twice elected State President of the Kentucky Post Masters Association. He was also active in the Harrodsburg Loins Club, having served as President two terms and received the Lions highest honor: the Melvin Jones Fellowship. He was chairman of the Eyeglass Committee for many years. He was a member of the Mercer Masonic Lodge # 777 F & AM and the Oleika Shrine Temple. Calvin also served on the Mercer County Fair Board for 15 years and served as manager of the Harrodsburg Tobacco Board of Trade for 5 years, and worked tirelessly on the Enhanced 911 Program for Mercer County.
Survivors include: one son: Calvin Lee Wiley, III of Harrodsburg, KY; one sister: Nancy (Don) Catlett of Puyallup, WA and one brother: Louis Van (Carolyn) Wiley of Louisville, KY; Sister-in-Law, Jean C. Wiley of Lexington, KY. He was predeceased by a sister: Mary Evalie Ray and two brothers: Paul Franklin and Harold C. Wiley.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday at the Harrodsburg Christian Church, with Revs. Don Chase and Dann Masden officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, with military honors.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 12 after 5:00 PM at the Funeral Chapel, . and Wednesday after 9:00 am at the Church. Masonic Rites will be held Tuesday evening at the Chapel.
