Sara Virginia McGee, 84, of 580 Greenfield Dr., Lexington, died Thursday, September 14, 2006 , three days before her birthday.
Born September 17, 1921 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late C. E. and Bess Bolton Rankin.
She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School where she was a member of the debate team and also class president and valedictorian of her senior class. She was a graduate of business school and later worked as a legal secretary and court reporter for several years. She was a life long member of the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church as well as a civic leader; serving as president of the Harrodsburg Woman's Club, the Parent Teachers Association and Band Parents.
Survivors include: one daughter, Elizabeth (James) Allison; one son, James (Linda) McGee, III., both of Lexington; one granddaughter, Leigh (Fred) Shaefer; three grandsons, Richard B. Allison, James A. (Dawn) McGee, IV, and Christopher A. McGee; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 18, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Jackie Linberg. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pall Bearers will be Rick Allison, James and Chris McGee, Fred Schaefer, Ron Reed and David Taylor.
Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral chapel.
