Garnett Ashford, 92, of Main St., Harrodsburg, widower of Ruby Marksbury Ashford, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville. Born Nov. 7, 1914 in Mercer Co. he was the son of the late James and Annie Kurtz Ashford. He was a retired farmer and had been a broom maker at Shaker Village. He was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee and was a member of the Men’s Group. Survivors include: two sons, Marvin (Janet) Ashford, Harrodsburg, and Charles (Jolene) Ashford, Nicholasville; two daughters, Becky Tyler, Louisville, and Joyce (Jim) Gash, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Cora Ratliff, Lexington, and Eva Lay, Harrodsburg; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Hyte, James, and Forrest Ashford. Funeral Services will be held 11 am Friday, December 8 at the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pall Bearers are to be: Bruce Ashford, Thomas Ashford, Allen Ashford, Brian Ashford, David Ashford and Steve Tyler. Honorary Bearers are: Kathy Young, Susan Tyler, Ashley Johnson, Beth Rose and Jamie Butler. Visitation will be from 5- 8 pm Thursday, December 7 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel and 10-11 am Friday at the church. Memorial contributions are to be directed to the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.
