James H. Newby J. H. Newby, age 88, Ada Drive, Harrodsburg, husband of Kathleen Long Newby, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Ctr., Harrodsburg, KY. Born March 2, 1918 in Washington County, KY, he was the son of the late Hansford and Iva (Turner) Newby. He was owner and operator of a furniture store for many years. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Director and Church Moderator. Survivors in addition to his wife include: two daughters: Frances Jane (Winston) Gouzoules of Greenland, NH, Carolyn Joyce Dunning of Danville, KY and two sons: James Marshall (Scotty) Newby and Jerry (Patricia) Newby both of Harrodsburg, KY; one sister: Blanche Alsup of Harrodsburg, KY; 9 grandchildren; 2 Step Grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. J.H. was preceded in death by a son: Marvin Leon Newby and three sisters: Mary Riley, Zelma Dean and Alma Burkhead. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM, Saturday, December 9 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by James Harley and Dr. Robert DeFoor with burial to follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are: Barry Newby, Shane Newby, Brent Newby, Brad Dunning, Ronnie Long, Ricky Long, Larry Long, Eddie Long. Honorary Bearers will be the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, December 8 after 5 PM and Saturday prior to Service on Saturday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to Fellowship Baptist Church, 502 Ada Drive, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
