Nancy Woods Hatfield, 81, wife of William C. Hatfield, died Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, KY. Born September 23, 1925 in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Archie T. and Bertha (Noland) Woods. As a result of the depression of 1929, the family moved to Harrodsburg where her father opened a hardware store known as the Big Store. She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School, Centre College and the St. Joseph School of Medical Technology in Louisville. She was employed as a medical technologist in the offices of Dr. James M. Kinsman, Haggin Memorial Hospital, Dr. J. E. Myers, Dr. Richard Hench, Dr. John Perrine, Dr. Adrian Fulmer and Dr. John Borders of Lexington. She was the organist for the Harrodsburg Methodist Church and taught piano while in Harrodsburg. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, choir member, Sunday School teacher, Meals-On-Wheels volunteer and one of their needlepoint stitchers. Other survivors include: two sons, William C. (Carol) Hatfield, Jr. & Thomas (Cynthia) Hatfield; four grandchildren, Alison S., Lane B., Lindsey L., and Taylor A. Hatfield; one great grandchild, Ellie G. Hatfield. She was predeceased by a son, Sean C. Hatfield and a sister, Louise W. Rice. Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Memorial contributions may be sent to Second Presbyterian Church, 460 East Main St., Lexington, KY 40507. Arrangements by Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
