Obituary of Georgia Powell Springate

Georgia Powell Springate, age 97, Talmage-Mayo Road, Harrodsburg, died Monday, January 15, 2007 at her home.
Born February 18, 1909 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late George and Dessie (Norton) Springate. She was a retired employee of Cricketeer Co. and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, Powell Sunday School Class, Young at Heart Group and the Church Choir for many years.
Survivors include: Nieces; Delila J. Sanders and Betty Springate both of Harrodsburg, Geraldine Hawthorne of Lawrenceburg, a nephew: Elwood Norton of Franklin, IN and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters: Verna Jenkins, Nannie Lue Norton, Lillie Taylor, Ollie Brown, Dorothy and Carrie Springate and brothers: Coleman P. and Arthur O. Springate.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18, at Hopewell Baptist Church by Gary Story and Brian Burkhead. Burial will be in the Hopewell Baptist Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are: Cecil Riley, Mack Compton, Connie Darland, Donald Stiglich, George C. Springate, Jimmy J. Springate and Elton Johnson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 5-7 PM at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, and Thursday 1:00 PM till hour of service at the Church.
