Emmitt Denton Whitis, age 78, 721 Fairview Ct., Harrodsburg widower of Alta Elizabeth Pointer Whitis, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital, Harrodsburg, KY. Born October 5, 1928 in Mayfield, KY, he was the son of the late Menefee and Lillie Mae (Harper) Whitis. He was an Army veteran, retired farmer and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Connie Burns and Dianna (Jeffrey) Lewis of Harrodsburg, KY; one son, J. D. (Charolett) Whitis of Harrodsburg, KY; five sisters: LaVone Pointer of Eubank, KY, Jessie Pointer of Harrodsburg, KY, Eveleen Phelps of Danville, KY, Jo Ann New of Burnside, KY, Betty Lou Weatherford of Mt. Victory, KY; and four brothers, Wayne Whitis of Eubank, KY, Ellis Whitis of Stanford, KY, Lee Whitis of Nancy, KY, Junior Whitis of Harrodsburg, KY; three grandchildren: Michael and Sherry Lewis and Christina Brown; two great grandchildren: Kayla Lewis Satterly and Courtney Lewis Satterly. He was predeceased by a sister and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 7 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by James Harley. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers will be: Michael Lewis, Richard Lewis, Elwood Lister, Clifford Lister, Ralph Byrd and Eddie Horn Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday prior to service at Funeral Chapel.
