Raymond Wesley Jones, age 96, 316 East Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, husband of Roselyne Watts Jones (for nearly 70 years), died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital, Harrodsburg, KY. Born September 15, 1910 in the Ebenezer section of Mercer County, he was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Nellie (Dean) Jones. He was a maintenance supervisor for the Cudahy Co. until his retirement in 1975. He was an active member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church for many years where he served as a deacon, elder and sang in the choir for fifty years. He was also past president of the Harrodsburg Lions Club and was named Man of the Year twice and received the Mellon Jones Fellow award for his dedication to humanitarian service in 1993. Raymond was as devoted to physical fitness; was an avid walker until his health began to decline in the late 1990’s. Other survivors include: two daughters: Linda Whalen of Harrodsburg, Jan (Jim) Nance of Stamping Ground; two sisters: Beatrice Curd of Lexington, Mary Elliott of Norfork, VA; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers: Ezra and Thomas Jones and a sister: Esther Clifton. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday (02/15/07) at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dann Masden and Phil Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will be Thursday, March 15 from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to Harrodsburg Christian Church Sanders Brown Center on the Aging.
