Obituary of Lennie Clemmons Tewmey

Lennie Clemmons Tewmey, age 102, Harrodsburg, widow of Clarence Tewmey, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born August 27, 1904 in the Clover Bottom Section of Woodford County, she was the oldest child of the late John and Clemma (Flahirty) Clemmons. She moved to Mercer County when she was five and attended Mercer County Schools and graduated from Harrodsburg High in 1922, she went on to Eastern Teacher College in Richmond. She taught in one room schools around Mercer County for a couple of years before going to work for the D.T. Bohon Co, Holman-Hawkins Department Store, she was a cashier at Tucker Maid Grocery, book-keeper and office clerk at Blue Grass Bottler Co for 18 years, the Gem Drug Store office for 26 ½ years and also kept the books for Dr. VanArsdall and Dr. Baughman.
Lennie became a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church in 1915; she was a member of the Christian Worker Sunday School class and a Charter member of the June Stanley Circle and the Quilters Group.
Lennie was survived by two nieces: Mary Jane Clemmons of Lexington, KY and Rita J. Martin of Cordova, TN; a nephew: Jerry Wood also of Cordova, TN and Several Cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Rodgers Lee Clemmons and Andrew J. Clemmons.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 pm, Thursday, March 29 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Dann Masden with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are: James Hubert Ison, David Taylor, Charles Wade, Bill Brinkley, C.M. Shewmaker, James Lloyd Tewmey, Honorary Bearers will be: Christian Workers Sunday School Class, Quilters Of H'burg Christian Church and the June Stanley Missionary Circle.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Harrodsburg Christian Church.
