Chester Marvin Rutherford, age 89, 414 College Manor, Harrodsburg, widower of Vertie (Shelton) Rutherford, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the V.A Medical Care, Lexington, KY. Born June 9, 1917 in Barbourville, KY, he was the son of the late William H. and Amanda Alice (Rose) Rutherford. He served during World War II in the Army. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and a KY Colonel. Survivors include: one daughter: Maureen (Norman) McRay of Harrodsburg, KY; one brother: Lloyd Kenneth Rutherford of Barbourville, KY, four grandchildren: Tonya (David) Higdon; Keith (Amy) McRay; Karen (Robert) Shearer; Katrina (Jason) Witten, and six great grandchildren. Predeceased by two brothers: Sidney Clyde Rutherford, Steely Alonzo Rutherford. Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 PM, Tuesday, June 5 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by John David Lane. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, with military rites. Pallbearers are: Keith McRay, David Higdon, Robert Shearer, Jason Witten, Jerry Benttin, and Donald Martin. Honorary Bearers are to be the Mercer County Senior Citizens. Visitation will be Monday, June 4 after 5:00 PM and Tuesday prior to Service at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hopewell Baptist Church, 1545 Talmage-Mayo Road, Salvisa, KY 40372
