Obituary of Myrtle Cornelius

Myrtle Cornelius, age 91, 8618 Glenfield Way, Louisville, formerly of Harrodsburg, wife of Daniel Grubbs Cornelius, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Episcopal Church Home, Louisville, KY. Born March 11, 1916 in Mercer Co., KY, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Dessda Lou (Stratton) Parsons. She was a former homemaker & volunteer, and was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star # 309. Mrs. Cornelius had also served as a Girl Scout Leader and Band Camp Counselor. Survivors other than her husband include: two daughters, Joyce (Cleo) Sanders, Harrodsburg, and Janice “Jan” (Dick) Johnson, Louisville, KY; one sister, Gertrude Sheegog, Harrodsburg, KY; 3 grandchildren , Amy Davis, Jim (Leslie) Withrow Jr, and Dan (Mindy) Cornelius Withrow; 4 great grandchildren, Hallie Withrow, Ella Withrow, Christian Withrow, and Nicholas Withrow. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Danna C. Sharp, a grandson, Dan Marshall Sanders, 1 brother, and 5 sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 28 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Dann Masden and Terry Morrison with burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are Jim Withrow Jr., Dan C. Withrow, Dick Johnson, Cleo Sanders, Steve Yeager, and Jack Freeman. Honorary bearers are Bea Gritton and members of the Order of The Eastern Star #309. Visitation will be Saturday, July 28 from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY.
