Johnny L. Thornton, age 68, Harrodsburg, husband of Carolyn Sims Thornton, died Friday, August 31, 2007 at the UK Medical Center, Lexington, KY.
Born February 5, 1939 in Oldham County, KY, he was the son of the late William D. and Beulah Jane (Lyons) Thornton. Johnny was a retired farmer and Mechanic. He was a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church and attended Benton Baptist.
Survivors include: his wife: Carolyn (Sims) Thornton, two daughters: Caroline (Jamie) Tatum and Anne Marie (Mike) Estes both of Harrodsburg, KY; a sister: Peggy (Danny) Gibson of Harrodsburg, KY; and two brothers: Harold (Brenda) Thornton of Harrodsburg, KY, Eugene (Shelby) Thornton of Garrard County, KY; a Granddaughter, Kayla Tatum. He was predeceased by a brother: Bill Thornton.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Monday, September 3 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Tim Gray and burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are: Paul Hartman, Mickey Gilliland, Robert Gilliland, Bob Burchett, Johnny Bailey and Mike Hudson. R.D. Peyton, Billy Beavers are Honorary Bearers.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 2 after 4:00 PM and Monday prior to the service at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Benton Baptist Youth Fund.
