Mary Alice Cox, age 84, 527 Talmage-Mayo Rd, Harrodsburg, widow of Samuel Cox, died Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY. Born July 26, 1923 in Cooksville, IL, she was the daughter of the late Beverly and Lillian (Grimes) Williams and was reared in her grandparents home (Mr. and Mrs. John Williams) She was a graduate of Rose Hill High School and the Taylor´s Capital Beauty School of Frankfort. She was a licensed cosmetologist for 30 years. She also owned and operated the Talmage Store for many years. She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, former 4H Leader in Anderson County, and served on the board of Mercer County Senior Citizens for several years. Survivors include one daughter: Cordelia (Vance) Reed of Harrodsburg, Grandchildren: Michelle Clem, Derrick Allen Drury, Julie (Wendell) Gooch, Ashley (Shaun) Parker; Step Grandchild, Tracy Reed; six great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren. Predeceased by three children: Glenn A. Cox, Janet Sue Holbrook, Shirley Ann Drury, and a brother: Walter Carroll Williams. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 29 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by John David Lane with burial in the Corinth Cemetery, Lawrenceburg. Pallbearers are: George Hollbrook, David Drury, Ralph L. Anderson, Shaun Parker, Addam Gooch, Derrick Drury. Honorary bearers: Vance Reed, Erika Drury, Jacob Drury, Abbey Rashelle Gooch, Allex G. Gooch, Logan Reed and Joshua Reed. Visitation will be Friday, September 28 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday prior to Service at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to Bohon Church of Christ or Mercer County Senior Citizens.
