Obituary of Charles Harrison McGinnis

JUDGE CHARLES HARRISON McGINNIS Mercer County Judge Executive Charles Harrison McGinnis, age 59, 137 New Dixville Road, husband of Linda Mitchell McGinnis died Saturday, September 20th at his residence of Cancer. Born October 24, 1943 in Mercer County, he was the son of Pauline Judd McGinnis, Harrodsburg and the late Daniel Harrison McGinnis. Prior to being elected as the current Mercer County Judge Executive he was a former Field Representative for Dairyman, Inc., and was a licensed Kentucky Auctioneer, a former member of the Kentucky National Guard, a member of the Bluegrass Area Development Board of Directors, chairman of the agency's Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Advisory Committee and former chairman of the agency's Tourism, Historic Preservation and Recreation Advisory Committee, served on the Mercer County Health Board, Mercer County Extension Service Board, Senior Citizens Board and the Anderson-Dean Community Park Board; he was also a member of the Kentucky County Judge’s Association, served on the Mercer County Planning and Zoning Board and was a member of the Bethel Cumberland # 1 Presbyterian Church. Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Troy Harrison and his wife Kelly McGinnis and Eric Allen and his wife Meghan McGinnis, both of Harrodsburg; a step-son John Christopher and his wife Angela Lewis ,a step-daughter Lydia Carroll and her husband Matthew Magee, both of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Elizabeth and her husband Robert VanArsdall, Burgin; one grandchild, Charles Landon McGinnis, Harrodsburg and a step-granddaughter, Grace Carpenter Lewis, Myrtle Beach. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Harrodsburg Christian Church by Bro. James Byrd and Alma Catlett. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 PM Monday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel and Tuesday after 9:30 AM at the Church. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Program or the Bethel Cumberland #1 Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers are Jesse "Butch" Hood, Bruce Springate, Ronnie Young, Harold Lester, Billy Humphrey, Bill Wickliffe, Jack Phumphrey, and Gene Lawson. Honorary bearers are Members of the Fiscal Court and staff, County Attorney and the Kentucky County Judges Association Members.
