Mr. Moore went on to become a successful farmer in Mercer Co. and remained active in the agriculture iThomas Irving Moore, age 83, 352 Moore Ln., Harrodsburg, husband of Mary Frances Yankey Moore, died Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Hospice Care Center, Saint Joseph Hospital, Lexington, KY. Born July 5, 1924 in Mercer Co., KY, he was the son of the late William Irvin and Anne Overton (Meredith) Moore. He was a 1942 graduate and valedictorian of Harrodsburg High School and received his B.A. from Centre College, where he was a member of the ndustry by serving as a secretary and three term president of the Mercer Co. Farm Bureau and as a member of the Mercer Co. Conservation Board. He also served his country during World War II as a Petty Officer and radar operator aboard the USS Benner. He was a member of the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Elder and served on various committees. Other survivors include: one daughter, Anne Thomas Moore Cox of Lexington, KY; one son, Francis (Frank) Edwards Moore of Vero Beach, FL; one brother, Joseph Farley Moore; six grandchildren, Christa Meredith Cox, Susan Anne Moore, Katherine Lea Moore, Megan Thomas Cox, Marilyn Elizabeth Moore, and Meredith Hope Moore; one step grandchild, William Paul Cox. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Meredith Moore. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church by Dr. Arthur J. DeYoung and Leon Mayo. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive Lexington, KY 40504, or to the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church, 326 South Main Street, Harrodsburg, Kentucky 40330.
