Dr. Charles E. Hatcher, age 80, Harrodsburg, husband of Clarice Miniard Hatcher, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY.
Born February 27, 1928 in Hickory Point, TN, he was the son of the late William Dayton and Zelma Lou (Johnson) Hatcher. He was a retired Optometrist after 52 years and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, director of the young married department, the Baptist Foundation. He was an Army Veteran, life member of the Lions Club, and received the Melvin Jones Award, Harrodsburg School Board Member for twelve years, served on Health Department Advisory Board, board of directors of the Farmers National Bank, a Kentucky Colonel, life member of American Legion, Past President of the Industrial Board, the U. K. Alumni Association, the American Optometric Society.
Survivors include: his wife: Clarice(Miniard) Hatcher, two daughters: Jean (James) Williamson of Georgetown, Claire (Ron) Pearl of Lexington, KY and two Brothers: William D. (Thelma) Hatcher Jr. of Michigan, Maurice (Wylene) Hatcher of Jefferson City, TN; Grandchildren: Eric (Mandy) Williamson, Emily (Josh) Futrell, Ryan (Susan) Pearl and Taressa (Barry) Sexton; great Grandchildren: Aiden James Williamson, Isabella Williams, Shelby Pearl and, Ashlyn Sexton. He was predeceased by a brother: John L. Hatcher.
Funeral services will be conducted,2 pm Monday, at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church by Dr. Robert DeFoor and Dr. Dan Frances. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are Dennis Ballard, Louis Kerrick, Bill Barnett, Jared Baker, Lonnie Campbell, John Trisler, John Harlow, Allen Whitenack, David Baker and Mike Matherly. Honorary Bearers are Gene Lawson, Robert Thompson, C.L. Riley, Kenneth Kirkland, Jr. Anness, Polie Stratton, Darrell Agee, Allen Garner, Dr. Constance Huff, Janet Reed, Eileen Lester, Harrodsburg Baptist Deacons, Lions Club Members and the Glad Hand Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 27 from 5-8 pm and Monday morning at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, then from 12 2 at the Church .
