Rev. Jack Geurin, 72, of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, formerly of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 at Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Brother Jack, as he was known to his congregations, was born son of Rudolph and Mildred (Tucker) Geurin on November 4, 1935 in Calloway County, Kentucky. On August 15, 1970 he married Mary Jean Ingold in New Albany, Indiana. At age eleven, Jack accepted Christ as Savior and was baptized at Elm Grove Baptist Church, Murray, Kentucky. Brother Jack graduated from Murray Training School in 1954. While in high school he was called into the ministry and was ordained in 1955 in his home church, Elm Grove. He later graduated from Campbellsville College in 1966 and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1970. For over 50 years, Brother Jack pastored churches in Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri and Tennessee. Most recently, he served in Mercer County as pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, and was Director of Missions for Mercer Association of Kentucky Baptists. He also served as pastor of Cornishville Baptist and Bethel Baptist churches in Mercer County. As a Christ follower, Brother Jack worked tirelessly to visit the sick, to help those in need, and to talk to anyone he would see. He was always about the work of reaching out to others in Jesus’ name. Although he suffered with constant pain in recent years, he continued to preach the gospel and was active in the community. Brother Jack was also a loving husband, father, and grandfather. To his grandchildren, he was simply known as Papa Jack. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his mother Mildred Geurin of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; a son, David Geurin and his wife, Lori, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; two daughters, Jackie Bishop and her husband, Jeremiah, of Louisville, Kentucky; and Jeri Stein and her husband, Mark, of Union, South Carolina; seven grandchildren: Drew, Cooper, Maddie, and Emma Geurin; Avery Bishop; and Austin and Haley Stein. He is also survived by one aunt, Mary Belle Brantley of Murray, Kentucky, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.
