Harold D. Ballard, age 86, College Manor, Harrodsburg, husband of Jewell Maretta Evans Ballard, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at his home. Born April 8, 1922 in Lancaster, KY, he was the son of the late Charlie Hatson and Lora Matilda Price Ballard. He served during World War II in the U. S. Navy. He was a retired Kentucky Utilities supervisor and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. He was also a Life Member of the Mercer County Fish and Game Club, Masonic Lodge # 777 F & AM and the American Legion. Other survivors include: one daughter; Peggy Jo Long and two sons: David Keith Ballard, and Charles Evans Ballard all of Harrodsburg, one sister: Ruby Carpenter of Raleigh, NC, and one brother: Robert "Bob" Ballard of Lancaster, KY; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by a granddaughter: Kimberly Ann Hungate, and a brother: Sam Ballard, and sister: Pauline Mauldin. Funeral services will be conducted 2 pm Sunday, June 8, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Dan Francis and Kenneth Whitehouse, with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are: H. T. Logue, Rob Larmour, Andy Baker, Travis Lanham, Keith and Kipp Ballard. Honorary bearers: Members of the Glad Hand Sunday School Class. Visitation will be Saturday, June 7 from 5-8 pm and Sunday prior to Service at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422
