Eugene Lee Mayes, age 85, Harrodsburg, husband of Lillie Freeman Mayes, died Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center, Harrodsburg, KY.
Born July 28, 1923 in Mercer County, KY, he was the son of the late Roy Earl and Reva (Adkinson) Mayes. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include: his wife: Lillie (Freeman) Mayes, a daughter: Shirley (Jim) Gunter of Punta Gorda, FL and two sons: McKinley (Gayle) Mayes of Punta Gorda, FL and Orban (Gayle) Mayes of Harrodsburg, KY; two sisters: Mary Ellen O'Keefe of Louisville, KY, Lois Atchison of MO; and a brother: Maurice Mayes of Harrodsburg, KY; Nine grandchildren and Eight great grandchildren. He predeceased by a son: Gary Lynn Mayes.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 16 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by David Crowe. Burial will be in the Bruner's Chapel Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are: Chris Mayes, Jarrod Mayes, Danny Mayes, Jad Farhat, Jerry Bottom, Timothy Bottom.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM; Monday, September 15 and Tuesday prior to Service at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer's Association or Heritage Hospice.
