Virginia “Vergie” Richards, age 56, 604 Story Ave., Harrodsburg, wife of Larry Richards, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Saint Joseph Hospital, Lexington, KY. Born October 7, 1952 in Harrodsburg, KY, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Willard and Hazel Lee (Webb) Tate. She was a Haggin Memorial Hospital switch board and admissions employee, and was a member of the Hedgeville Baptist Church. Other survivors include: a son, Chad Richards, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Terri R. Marksbury, Lexington, and Carin (Dennis) R. Cocanougher, Harrodsburg; a sister, Easter Carey, Harrodsburg; a brother, Jay (Karen) Tate, Alabama; five grandchildren, Samantha Marksbury, Austin Wayne Cocanougher, Noah Joseph Cocanougher, Mason Lee Richards, and Kain Richards; a godchild, Faith Kearns. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 4 at the Hedgeville Baptist Church, Danville, by Travis Farris and Bob Kiper with burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are Billy Nevius, Danny Carter, Keith Monson, Vernon Richards, C. H. Isham, and Dave Petitt. Honorary bearers are Barbara Isham, Jo Ella Curtis, Sue Johnson, Kathy Nevius, Diane Carter, A. J. Clark, Diane Burton, and Karen Tate. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY and Wednesday 9:00 am until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hedgeville Baptist Church, 4700 Lancaster Rd., Danville, KY 40422. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.ransdellfuneralchapel.com.
