Obituary of John Bruce Sparrow

John Bruce Sparrow, age 89, widower of Helen Louise Baker Sparrow, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Village Of Lebanon, Lebanon, KY.
Born December 24, 1919 in Lawrenceburg, KY, he was the son of the late Fred and Myrtle Huffman Sparrow. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was former manager of the E.W. Brown Power Plant and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. John was also a Mason, past president of the Harrodsburg Rotary Club, and was a volunteer tax advisor for the Mercer Senior Citizens.
Survivors include: two daughters: Sharon (Berry) Shewmaker of Harrodsburg, Angie (Brian) Shurr of Somerset, and two sons: John (Cathy) Sparrow of Lebanon, Rick (Linda) Sparrow of Louisville, one brother: Cecil Thurman, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 27 at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church by Dr. Robert DeFoor and Jimmy Carter.
Pallbearers: Chris Sparrow, Todd Shewmaker, Matt Sparrow, Josh Butler, Bruce Sparrow, Bill Barnett.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26 from 5 8 pm at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel and after 10 am Wednesday at the Church.
