Emma R. Lay, 81, Danville, wife of John P. Lay, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY. Born December 24, 1927 in Mercer County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Reva (Stratton) Robinson. She was a office manager at the Haggin Memorial Hospital and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Danville. Survivors include: her husband: John P. Lay, two daughters: Rebecca (Michael) Green of Burgin and Susan Southworth of Danville; one son: John David (Karen) Lay of Canton, GA; two sisters: Doris Sims of Danville and Frances (Rutledge) McClure of Prospect, KY; Five Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren. Emma was predeceased by a brother, Thomas E. "Buddy" Robinson and a sister, Hilda Sims. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Friday, June 19 at the First Baptist Church by Dr. Tim Mathis and John David Lay. Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are: Mike Green, Paul Green, Justin and Lance Southworth, Brennan Boswell and Richard Lough. Honorary Bearers are: the Philathea Sunday School Class Members, Mark Harris, Dottie Sims, Bob & Jane Williams, Buddy & Mary Lee Furr, Martha Lough, Tom Houchins and Alberta Wood. Visitation will be at the Church Thursday, June 18 from 5 - 8 PM and Friday 9 -11 AM . Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, Danville or Gideon Bible Fund.
