Granville Curtis Devine, age 81, 339 Dixie Manor, Harrodsburg, husband of 57 years to Carolyn Smith Devine, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at his residence. Born January 6, 1928 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Sally (Gibson) Devine. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a retired platinum smith for Corning Glass, and a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and usher. Curtis loved his church, family, and UK sports. Volunteer work was important to him, having hauled bread and bakery goods from Kroger to Christ’s Closet – where they were distributed to those in need. As a driver for the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery Program, he transported cancer patients from Mercer Co. to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, and to hospitals in Lexington, for treatments. Curtis will be remembered by his kind and quiet ways that was our inspiration. His spirit and integrity provided a strong foundation for everyone.
