KENNETH BARRY WITHERSPOON


Kenneth Barry Witherspoon, age 70, of 142 Dedman Street, husband of Margaret Suggs Witherspoon, died Monday, October 27, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital after an accidental fall at his residence. Born January 15, 1933 in Wilmington, NC, he was the son of the late Virgil Clyde and Danie Shipman Witherspoon. He graduated from Tri-State University, Angola, IN with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, was a retired employee of Corning, Inc. of Harrodsburg, a member of the Harrodsburg Presbyterian Church, the Harrodsburg Historical Society, the James Harrod Preservation Trust, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Roman Eagle Lodge Shrine, and of the Friends of the Hunley. He was also a Kentucky Colonel, and a Kentucky Admiral


Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Kim and her husband Richard Nesbitt, Lexington and Beth Smith, Harrodsburg; one sister, Jean Mills, Hamlet, NC; three grandchildren, Hailey Alexis Logue, Alexander Witherspoon Logue, and Sarah Daleny Smith, all of Harrodsburg. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael K. Witherspoon.


Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Joe Tarry. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Ben and Charles Black, Brian Burns, Duane Hall, Henry Grall and Galen LeGard.


Honorary bearers will be Bob Moore, Gene Lawson, Bill Barker, George Rogers and Harold Davis.


Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29 from 5-7 pm and after 7:30 am Thursday until the time of service at the chapel. Memorial contributions are suggest to the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Youth.
