Henry Helm, 88, Burgin, husband of Hazel L. DeFeet Helm, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY. Born May 18, 1921 in Russell County, KY, he was the son of the late John S. and Mary Katherine (Ohlman) Helm. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was a tool and die maker for Trig, in Frankfort. James was also a member of the Harrodsburg Community Church, volunteer for the Burgin Fire Department for over 20 years, Boy Scout Leader and Lay Minister at Burgin Methodist Church. Survivors include: his wife: Hazel Lewvenia (DeFeet) Helm, and three sons: J. H. (Teresa) Helm Jr. of Richmond, John Robert (Rose Mary) Helm of Harrodsburg and Roger Dean (LuAnn) Helm of Lexington; ; ; Eight Grandchildren; Six Great Grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter; Susan Young, two brothers; Morris & Weslie and three sisters; Maude, Josie & Ethel. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 16 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Terry Morrison. Burial will be in the Burgin Memorial Garden, Burgin. Pallbearers are: Mike Piazza, Michael Morris, Kent Harley, Brian Morrison, Rick Lee and James Dunn. Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren will serve as Honorary Bearers. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15 from 5 - 8 PM and Thursday prior to Service at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions should go to the American Kidney Association or American Heart Association.
