THELMA LOUISE GASH DEVINE Thelma Louise Gash Devine, 82, 659 Perryville Street, widow of Paul Devine, died Monday, November 4, 2003 at the Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg. Born April 3, 1921 in the community of East Texas in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest M. and Verna Whitehouse Gash. She was a retired school teacher after 34 years of service in the Mercer Co. and Harrodsburg Independent School Systems. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Women’s Missionary Union, taught the Japanese Class for a number of years, and was Past President of the Mercer County Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include one son, Donald Paul and wife Susan Devine, Bowling Green; one daughter Linda and husband Kenny Kurtz, Danville; two brothers, Rowland R. Gash, North Little Rock, Arkansas and Rev. Samuel Clelland Gash, Memphis, Tennessee; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Gash. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, November 7 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Dr. Robert DeFoor. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Kurtz, Mike Butcher, Louis Kerrick, N.B. Stratton, Claude Russell and Sam Gash Jr. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm Thursday and after 7:30 am Friday at the chapel Memorials are suggested to the Harrodsburg Baptist Foundation, the Onita Baptist Institute or the Wendell Foster Home, Owensboro.
