Robert Edwin Glancy, age 83, Harrodsburg, husband of Hazel Gritton Wooldridge Glancy and widower of Pat Griswold Glancy, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, KY. Born April 9, 1926 in LaSalle, IL, he was the son of the late Malachy J. and Bessie Farrar Glancy Coleman. He served during World War II in the Navy and was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church. He moved to Louisville in 1956 with General Electric where he was an engineer, and was involved with the start up of Appliance Park. He was an avid Yankee, Tar Heel and UK fan and loved growing roses. Survivors include: his wife: Hazel Gritton (Wooldridge) Glancy, and four sons: Michael Glancy of Wilmington, NC, Jay Glancy of Portsmouth, VA, Tom Glancy of Atlanta, GA, Gary Gritton of Louisville, KY; Eight Grandchildren; Four Great Grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by two sons: Keith Gritton and Jim Glancy. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Monday, November 2 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church by Father Danny Schwendemann. Burial will be in the Kirkwood Cemetery, Salvisa. Pallbearers are: Doug Hazelwood, Brent Hazelwood, Perry Hazelwood, Alan Hazelwood, Logan Hazelwood, Ryan Glancy and Steve Stivers. Visitation will be Sunday, November 1 from 4-8 PM at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel and after 10 am Monday at the church Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Andrew Catholic Church, Building Fund, 1125 Danville Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
