Lawrence Morris, 90, Danville, KY, husband of Lucille Goodlett Morris, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington. Born September 10, 1924, in Bondville, KY, he was the son of the late Clarence Overstreet and Emma (Thomas) Morris.
He served during World War II in the Navy, receiving The Purple Heart, worked for the federal government for 30 years, was an avid golfer and a member at Kirkwood Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife: Four daughters: Sharron Kaye Chenault of Huntington , WV, Jennifer Lynn (Kurt) Schaefer of St. Louis, MO, Vicki Lee (Steve) Tunstill of Jacksonville, FL, and Tamson Jo "Tammy" (Rob) Watts of Lawrenceburg, KY. One sister: Shelby Morris of Lakeside Park, KY and five brothers: Ralph Morris of Bondville, KY, James Russell (Jo) Morris of Florence, KY, Garnett Morris of Bondville, KY, Carroll (Joyce) Morris of New Carlisle, OH and Wayne Young (Ivana) Morris of Colonial Heights, VA. Son-in-Law: Moreland Thomas Miller of GA. Grandchildren: Laura (Mike) Caskey, Sandra (Jenn) Miller, Sarah (Bill) Crum, Jonathan Miller, Erin (William) Colledge, Thomas (Kari) Chenault, Jessica (Matt) Crews, Dylan Venneman, Lauren Schaefer, Megan Tunstill, Shelby Watts and Rachel Watts. Great-Grandchildren: Alex, Ben, Caroline, Emma, Parker, Isaac, Shepherd, Adam, Josie, Aubrey, Rawlings, Reed and Kate. Lawrence was preceded in death by his Daughter: Linda Sue Morris Miller. Brothers: Aubrey Phillips Morris and Stanley Bennett Morris. Sisters: Mildred Irene Morris Crum and Mary Joyce Morris Niederlehner. Sisters In Law: Doris Catlett Morris, Betty Springate Morris and Anne Dawson Morris and a Brother In Law: Haskell Crum.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 from 11-2pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg.
Funeral service will be Saturday 2:00 pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Kirkwood Cemetery, Salvisa.
