Obituary of Jerry D. Kays

Jerry D. Kays, 73, Salvisa, KY, husband of Judie Sparrow Kays, died Wednesday at the Florida Hospital of North Pinellas, Tarpon Springs, FL. Jerry was born May 29,1942, in Willisburg, to the late George E. and Jaunita (Wilham) Kays.
He was a graduate of the Harrodsburg High School and received his bachelors and masters degrees at Eastern Kentucky University. Jerry retired from the Kentucky Department of Revenue and from the Mercer County School District where he was a history teacher, athletic coach and later became Supervisor of Instruction and the Transportation Director. He was a member and deacon at the Salvisa Baptist Church and a Gideon. He was also a former member of the Harrodstown Singers and the Gospel Seven Group. Jerry could usually be found visiting with customers at Family Affair Restaurant or shooting pool in his man cave.
Jerry is survived by: his wife: Judith (Sparrow) Kays, one daughter: Amy (Phillip) Kays Huffman of Salvisa and one son: Jonathan Kays of Salvisa, three grandchildren, Alisha, Jacob and Matthew Tomas; one great grandchild, Valerie; and his faithful companion, Little Bit.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Sunday; January 17 at the Salvisa Baptist Church. Funeral service 2:00 pm Monday; January 18 at the church with Bro. Jonathan Jones and Bro. Larry Koch officiating..
Pallbearers: Bill Bare, Gerald Lister, John Mark Johnson, Phillip Huffman, Joshua Bynum, Joe Morris, Kent Sparrow and Allan Adams. Honorary bearers: Class of 1960.
Memorials suggested to the Salvisa Baptist Church Life Center or the Gideon Bible Fund.
