Miss Stiles was an incredible teacher. Not easy and not warm and fuzzy. But we always knew she wanted us to do well. She challenged us. She believed we could do well. She was strict but I remember her laughing in class and always enjoyed the part of my day spent on her classroom. An excellent educator and impactful individual. Condolences to her loved ones.

I just found my old report card from when I went to Lexington Jr. High School in the 7th Grade from Sept 1955 until May 1956 and Ms. Susan J. Stiles was my Homeroom Teacher at that time. It has been a long time and I have nothing but the fondest of memories of her. She taught Social Studies and I recall making a colonial style dress for a doll of the period we were studying and she gave me an A for that. She used to tell stories to the class about her days when she was in the military. So sad to see her name listed here in the obituaries but I just wanted to extend my deepest condolences to her family, friends, students, and all who knew her. May our Lord send His comforter to give each one peace and understanding during this sad time. She may be gone but will never be forgotten and we have the Hope that we will all meet again one day. May the Lord bless you one and all.

Ms. Stiles was one of the best teachers I grew from. I had her for Freshman English at Tates Creek Sr High School in 1972. At the time, I didn't think she "liked" me. But we continued a student-teacher relationship and I learned more than English ( I can diagram a sentence now!). I learned what she saw in me, that I could do better. She did not accept average performance when she saw more potential and she pushed me beyond what I was accustomed to giving. I wish that I had the opportunity to tell her what a great influence she was to me. I wasn't the only young person she influenced. She knew who could preform at a higher level and in her loving way taught them to win her approval. I did and I'm so blessed she was a part of my younger years.RIP, your wings are coming.
