She was so sweet and cared for her students immensely. It’s been a long time ago but the memories of her classes in science and biology really encouraged me to go on to become a nurse. You were gem who made all of us better people.

Our deepest condolences to you and your family! Karen was, is, and always will be an outstanding educator, community member, and friend; who has had a huge impact on everyone who came in contact with your mom.
My fondest memory is when I was interviewed for a 9th grade academy position. Karen and Gayla met with me at a BBQ restaurant. I knew right then and there that I wanted to work and retire working with these women! From that moment we would meet every so often in Lexington at Blue Door BBQ.
Again, our deepest condolences to you and your families.

To Karen's family/friends: So sorry for your loss. Prayers that you all will have the strength to get through this sad and difficult time. She was always smiling, laughing, and so energetic during class. I was in one of her classes back in 1984/1985.

The Joyce Family would like to send their sympathies to Kevin, Justin and all family members in this difficult time.
After working with Karen for many years, I know one very special thing about her that was very important. If you knew Karen, you knew that she cared deeply. She would do whatever she could to help you when you needed something and at the same time, teaching you to be accountable for your actions.
Karen loved her boys so much- she was always so grateful to have them every day. She knew how precious life was.
Karen will be greatly missed. Rest in peace dear friend.
