My dear friend JR. I will miss your compassion, your friendship, your ministry, your laugh, our conversations and your ability to work with people wherever they were in life. Also, let us not forget about his amazing singing voice. When singing the Eucharistic prayers, I felt like I was being raised into heaven through his most beautiful voice. I will miss vacations with you and your family and friends. I know that Jesus has welcomed you with open arms. I continue to love you my friend until we meet again in heaven. Love Jenny.

I'm so sorry to hear about Father J.R. I was blessed to have worked with him as a lector and youth group core team member at St. Anthony of Padua parish in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the time he was there, and have thought of him often in the years since. One of the most impactful things I can remember that he did was the year he arranged a prophetic reading for the Easter Vigil Mass where I was the lector reading from the Old Testament in the darkened church and the choir would sing a chorus between some of the verses, which is easily the most dramatic expression of the faith I've ever been involved in. I'm sure he will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.

Father JR was so beloved by all of his parishioners, we were blessed to have him as our pastor at St. Joe Hill church in Sellersburg, IN for the time we did. He is responsible for awakening our faith, my sister Debbi and I loved him dearly. The healing masses that he celebrated truly were healing, we experienced physical and spiritual healing by Jesus, working through his hands. His homilies always seemed to be what I needed at the time, he would walk down the main aisle, speaking to us...he had the Holy Spirit within him. At that time, Hallmark Dreamsickles angels were popular, they were cute, little chubby angels...Father took exception to their being an image of angels, he said Angels don't look like that, they are big and strong...I never told him I collected those little angels. A couple of years, after he was transferred to Carey, Ohio...my sister, Debbi and I made a road trip to visit him...it was Mother's day weekend, and it is a memory that I treasure...as we prepared to drive out of the parking lot, JR was walking back into the church, and suddenly turned and looked at us and blessed our car, making the sign of the cross. Debbi and I had just been joking that we hoped we make it home okay, her Taurus had over 100000 miles on it..his blessing let us know that we'd be okay ( that car never did have any mechanical issues). My sister passed away in July 2019, he visited her in the hospital the day before she died...I know that this prepared her for the journey she would begin less than 24 hours later.
I send my prayers for the consolation of his family.

I am so sorry to hear the about the death of Fr. John. I had the opportunity to be at St. Andrew's this spring to give mission talks at all of the Masses about St. Vincent Mission, David KY. I knew he was not well, but I also knew that he was a dedicated shepherd by the way he was present to his people. Peace, Sr. Kathleen Weigand OSB

I enjoyed Father Hadnagy when he visited the Outer Banks and celebrated Mass here. I am sorry to hear of his early passing, but I know he was a man filled with faith who is enjoying the Heavenly Banquet!
